Portland Fall

Jeremy McCallum does a tribute video for the "Edwards" shirt from Bridge and Burn . The video is in Portland, by the St. Johns Bridge. With all this cold rain, this video assures me summer will eventually come!

#356 Reason I love snowboarding

During the holiday I went up to my favorite volcano. Ending up having the best day of the year (so far). My friend Danny and I rode through this stream until we could no longer ride. It was a hour hike back, and worth every step for first tracks.

A little Feath action for ya

The gully you see in the background of this picture is what made this day so epic. Amazing!

Yes please...

I've had this 35mm camera for a few years now. Didn't think it worked but it just turned out, I was unaware of how to roll film properly. So now I'm shooting 35mm pictures like crazy AND digital because I just bought a new digi camera too. So here are some "people" pictures from my first couple of rolls.

Matt Costa at Doug Fir

I recently saw Threes and Nines and headliner Matt Costa at the Doug Fir. The best concert I have been to in a while! This video of "Astair" is from that show... October 17, 2010 at the Doug Fir

Travels With Charley

Pure bliss for me...

"I went into a state of flight, running to get away from the unearthly landscape. And then the late afternoon changed everything. As the sun angled, the buttes and coulees, the cliffs and sculptured hills and ravines lost their burned and dreadful look and glowed with yellow and rich browns and a hundred variations of red and silver gray, all picked out by streaks of coal black. It was so beautiful that I stopped near a thicket of dwarfed and wind-warped cedars and junipers, and once stopped I was caught, trapped in color and dazzled by the clarity of light. Against the descending sun the battlements were dark and clean-lined, while to the east, where the uninhibited light poured slantwise, the strange landscape shouted with color. And the night, far from being frightful, was lovely beyond thought, for the stars were close, and although there was no moon the starlight made a silver glow in the sky. The air cut the nostrils with dry frost. And for pure pleasure I collected a pile of dry dead cedar branches and built a small fire just to smell the perfume of burning wood and to hear the excited crackle of the branches. My fire made a dome of yellow light over me, and nearby I heard a screech owl hunting and a barking of coyotes, not howling but the short chuckling bark of the dark of the moon. This is one of the few places I have ever seen where the night was friendlier than the day. And I can easily see how people are driven back to the Bad Lands."
-John Steinbeck

"Look around it, have you found it
Walking down the avenue?
See what it brings,
could be good things
In the air for you."

Travels With Charley In Search Of America

I started "East Of Eden" some four years ago on the best road trip of my life (to date) through Northern California. It was hard to get into "East Of Eden" with California at my vision and fingertips. I vowed to myself to return when ready to the eye of John Steinbeck, who I have heard of so well. I was ready, although troubling circumstances would not allow myself to read "East Of Eden". I chose "Travels With Charley". An adventure about observing, conversing and exploring. Wild rides through the people of America's minds and traditions. The beauty in which John Steinbeck describes the land and people we are surrounded by, will keep me coming back for more.

I'll share some of my favorite parts, but not now...I'm starting my first Hemingway book!

Man, Legend, Hero

Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke, the man who created the self filmed documentary "Alone In The Wilderness". He is a huge inspiration for me. A man who'd I like to think was always following everything at the heart! Below are some of the only shots I could find on this interweb but my favorite!
